The tallest Hanuman idol, measuring 25 feet, has been installed in the Mahalakshmi temple located in Hockessin, Delaware, USA. This magnificent statue was brought all the way from Warangal, Telangana. It is currently the tallest statue of a Hindu god in the United States and was intricately carved out of a single piece of black granite. The idol weighs approximately 30,000 kilograms and took over a year to complete.
The construction of this impressive Hanuman statue cost around $100,000. The artisans in Warangal, Telangana, who are known for their expertise in working with stone and black granite, dedicated their time and efforts to this project. More than 12 skilled artisans worked full-time for over a year to bring this idol to life.
The Hindu Temple Association of Delaware stated, "It took us approximately eight months to find the suitable stone and transport the idol to the United States." The idol was transported from Hyderabad to New York via ship and then carefully transported to Delaware on a flatbed truck.
To ensure the sanctity of the deity, all the necessary rituals, including the purification ceremony, were performed by a priest from Bengaluru. The project, named the Hanuman Project, involved the participation of over 300 families and devotees of the temple, along with the resident priest, who dedicated themselves to a 10-day installation process.
