The history of the temple is quite remarkable. Lord Shiva is worshipped here as Shri Mallikarjuna Swamy, and Goddess Parvati is worshipped as Bhramarambika (the consort of Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy). Other famous ancient historical temples such as Paladhara, Panchadhara, Sakshi Vinayaka, Shikhareshwara Swamy, Hatkeshwara Swamy, and Patala Ganga are also located here. You can visit both the Shrishailam Dam and the temple together. Being situated on a hill station, it adds to the beauty and pleasant climate of the place. This city is located on the peaks of hills and along the banks of the Krishna River. Avoid driving at night for darshan (worship) as there is a wildlife tiger reserve along the approximately 27 km route. The forest check-posts allow traffic only between 6 am and 9 pm.
